Welcome to premium single origin coffee from Battlefield Coffee Company! This washed robusta from Uganda Mount Elgon Bugisu is a bold and exceptional single origin — and a rare opportunity to experience fine robusta at its very best.

Robusta often plays a supporting role in the coffee world, but Uganda's Mount Elgon region is changing that narrative. Grown at elevations between 1,300 and 2,000 meters — exceptionally high for robusta — these beans develop a complexity and refinement that sets them far apart from commodity-grade robusta. The volcanic soils, equatorial climate, and dramatic altitude of the Bugisu region on the slopes of Mount Elgon coax out a richness and depth that challenges everything you thought you knew about this variety. The Bugisu smallholder farmers have honed their craft over generations, treating their robusta crops with the same care and intention typically reserved for specialty arabica.

The producers of Mount Elgon hand pick only the ripest cherries at peak maturity. Once harvested, the cherries undergo a careful selection process before pulping. After pulping, the beans are fermented, thoroughly washed, and dried under the equatorial sun to concentrate their bold, earthy flavors. Once dried, the coffee is placed in clean sacks and prepared for export, delivering a powerful and memorable cup from farm to bag.
