Welcome to premium single origin coffee from Battlefield Coffee Company! This washed coffee from Uganda Mount Elgon Bugisu is a gorgeous arabica sourced from the fertile slopes of one of East Africa's most distinctive and rising specialty coffee regions.

Mount Elgon, straddling the border of Uganda and Kenya, is home to the Bugisu people, who have cultivated arabica coffee on these volcanic slopes for generations. Grown at elevations ranging from 1,300 to 2,000 meters above sea level, these coffees benefit from the mountain's rich, mineral-dense soils, abundant rainfall, and the cool temperatures that encourage slow cherry development. The Bugisu region has earned a growing reputation among specialty roasters for producing coffees with a bold, complex character that stands apart from other East African origins — offering an earthy depth and sweetness that is uniquely its own.

The smallholder producers of Mount Elgon hand pick only the ripest cherries at peak maturity. Once harvested, the cherries undergo a careful selection process before pulping. After pulping, the beans are fermented, thoroughly washed, and dried under the equatorial sun to bring out their natural richness. Once dried, the coffee is placed in clean sacks and prepared for export, carrying the bold spirit of the mountain from farm to cup.
